Hartley Misses Out On Title
The EIBA indoor national championships are currently taking place at Nottingham and the area nearly landed the blue riband title. The Vipers Paul Hartley carried the area’s hopes in the men’s singles, a beaten quarter finalist last year Hartley opened with a hard fought 21-19 win over Doncaster’s Andrew Walker. In the quarter final it was another thriller as the Shield’s lad got home 21-19 against Dorchester’s defending champion Martin Puckett. Solihull’s Ben Harris stood in the way of a final appearance but there was no stopping Hartley as he ran out a 21-14 winner. In the final Swale’s man of the moment Harry Goodwin was the opponent, sadly for Hartley the Swale lad was on a roll and got home 21-13 to dash Hartley’s title hopes.
It was still a cracking effort by Paul….. well done mate
