Selection is never easy and there had to be a couple of changes to the team prior to our Nation final due to illness and car problems. This is why having a good squad of players is so important and this years squad have certainly done themselves and Durham proud! Against a very good Essex team the lads got off to a flyer and soon established a 40 shot lead which they kept for the majority of the match. Brian Poulter, Malcolm Lusk, Alan Jobling and skip Brian Houghton were outstanding, winning 30 – 13 and they were well supported by the rest of the team with tremendous bowls being played by everyone across the 6 rinks.
Final score was Durham 128 Essex 93.
Well done lads you deserve this……. Also a big thank you to the reserves and the Durham supporters who cheered the team on……. now to defend it in 2027.
