A Liberty Trophy trial match is required before the 2009-10 season team is picked as he feels fresh faces may be needed. He sensed complacency during last year's defeat to Lincolnshire and was unhappy that players were nominating for positions they do not play at for their own clubs.

Durham County Indoor Bowling Association

The Durham County IBA comprises of 17 indoor bowling clubs - the highest number of clubs in any county. Each year it enters a team in the national Liberty Trophy knockout competition and is the record holder with 10 wins; it also runs an Under 25 team, and a Seniors 60+, team which has had great success in both the Midland Counties League and in the Norhern Counties League. It is the current holder of both titles. The Association organises three inter club league competitions including one for Veterans and also holds County Champion of Champions knockout competitions.

Players from the County have achieved successes in National events and many have gone on to represent England internationally. The following are current England International team members.
