In the highly competitive Midland Seniors League Durham completed a successful season by winning the Championship with a win away against Nottinghamshire at the Nottingham Indoor Bowls Centre.

This completes a hat-trick of Midland Seniors League titles for the side - 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Warwickshire did not take part in the League this season and this reduced the teams to four. However Warwicks will be back next season and Lincolnshire are also entering a team

Durham have had a lot of success in this League despite having to play all but one match each season away. This involves a lot of travelling and expense but the squad are a keen and dedicated bunch of lads.

Seniors Over 60 Inter County Competitions

Durham County IBA enters teams in the following:-

1. Midland Seniors Indoor Bowling League for the Midland Counties Trophy (8 rinks of four players)

2. Northern League for the B H Crosby and N Pratt Trophy (8 rinks of four players)

3. Over 60 Inter-County League (6 rinks of four players) - a new national competition starting 2008-9

The Over 60 Inter-County League is an EIBA national competition introduced for the 2008-9 Season. Initially all Counties are split into four geographical groups to play in preliminary mini-leagues on a round robin basis (3 rinks home and 3 rinks away). Each group winner will qualify for the semi-final.

Durham County has been a member of both the Midlands Seniors League together with Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Lancashire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire for six seasons and has been very successful winning the Trophy 4 times and finishing runner-up once.

In 1998 Dave Morgan,Durham County IBA Secretary, together with past Presidents, Ben Crosby and Neil Pratt were instrumental in setting up the Northern Counties Seniors League which originally comprised of five counties, Durham, Cumbria, Northumberland, Lancashire and Yorkshire.

During the 12 years of its existence Durham have won the competition nine times and finished runners-up on the other three occasions. This is a proud record. The winners receive the Neil Pratt and Ben Crosby Trophy donated by two past Presidents of the Association. Cumbria and Northumberland have since withdrawn from the Northern Counties League which leaves Yorkshire, Lancashire and Durham taking part.
